MickDuff's Brewing Co. celebrates anniversary in new home

SANDPOINT - MickDuff’s Brewing Co. is excited to celebrate 15 years of business in Sandpoint this St Paddy’s Day!

As a kicker, MickDuff's Brewing Co. is celebrating in style this year with its new brewpub, situated in a historic downtown Sandpoint building. Now, located less than two blocks away from where it all started on First Avenue, MickDuff’s Brewpub is now at home at 419 N. Second Ave., a building which has served Sandpoint for nearly 100 years.

St Paddy’s Day is a special time of the year for the Mahoney brothers, the pair said in a press release, as it marks another year in business after opening their brewpub in downtown Sandpoint in 2006. What started as a dream became a reality quickly. Over the years, they’ve expanded to two locations, entered into distribution, installed new equipment and increased production.

“It’s incredible to think it’s been 15 years since we first opened in Sandpoint,” said Mickey Mahoney, co-owner. “We’re honored and humbled by the love and support by this community and its visitors.”

The new brewpub boasts more seating (when capacity restrictions lift), large patio, expanded kitchen, extra prep kitchen, new equipment and a five-barrel pilot brewery. There is an ADA ramp going from Second Avenue all the way to the front doors. The beautiful finishes may remind you of an English-Irish pub, while the many elements of the original building remain including its Historical Society designation.

“Please bear with us this anniversary celebration, we are still following the COVID protocols and that means we are not at full capacity and anticipating wait times,” said co-owner Duffy Mahoney. “We are so excited to welcome you. Our new brewpub has a nice amount of parking spaces plus great street parking.”

The Federal Building, as 419 N. Second is often referred to, has a rich history in downtown Sandpoint. The near 12,000-square-foot building was built in 1927, dedicated in 1928 as the Sandpoint post office. It was also home to other organizations such as Bonner County Library and most recently, First American Title.

The Mahoneys said thanks are owed to so many people and businesses that came together to help make the building a dream for them. On the front end it was Realm Partners, Mountain West Bank, Boden Architecture, Panhandle Area Council and First American Title.
