Softball travels to No. 1 seed Timberlake on Tuesday for district opener

PRIEST RIVER — Spartan softball was swept by Bonners Ferry in a home doubleheader on Tuesday.
Priest River lost the first game 21-2 and the second game 22-10. Both games were called in the fifth inning due to the 10-run rule.
Shelby Hanna, Madilyn Rose and Kailee Davis each recorded a hit for the Spartans in the opener.
In the second game, Priest River was able to score 10 runs across the second and third innings, but they couldn't keep up with the Badgers.
Brodie Hansen hit a grand slam in the third inning and finished with six RBIs in the game.
On Friday, the Spartans dropped a doubleheader at Kellogg. They fell 26-10 and 17-2.
Rose tallied four hits during the series.
Priest River (1-18, 0-12 IML) hosts a doubleheader with Thompson Falls starting at 2 p.m. Thursday.
Following that series, the No. 4 seed Spartans will travel to No. 1 Timberlake at 4 p.m. Tuesday for the first round of the 3A District 1 tournament. With a win, PR would advance to the district championship game on Wednesday to face the winner of Kellogg-Bonners Ferry. With a loss, the team would play in the district loser-out game on Wednesday at the loser of Kellogg-Bonners Ferry.
