Priest River boys golf holds down fourth at state after day 1

RATHDRUM — The Priest River boys golf team is in position for a state trophy after the first day of the 3A state tournament.

The Spartans sit in fourth with a team score of 371. They are one stroke ahead of fifth place Buhl and 46 behind first place Kimberly. Intermountain League rival Kellogg is in second with a 326.

Kameron Salesky shot a nine-over-par 81 and is in a three-way tie for seventh. Luke Butler carded an 89, Bowen Fegert recorded a 92, Jace Yount had a 109 and Hayden Stockton finished with a 117.

Play for the final day of the tournament starts at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Twin Lakes Village Golf Club in Rathdrum.
