Fun themed Family Read Week at Idaho Hill Elementary

| November 17, 2021 1:00 AM

OLDTOWN — Fun is the order of the day with a focus on reading as Idaho Hill Elementary celebrates Idaho Family Read Week.

Monday’s focus was on book adventures with “Crazy Sock Day” as students pulled on fun-colored and mismatched socks to show off to their friends and classmates. Tuesday was a hats off to reading and gave students a chance to wear their favorite hats. Wednesday is all about breakfast, books and buddies. To celebrate, students are invited to bring in their favorite stuffed animal to read with and wear pajamas.

Students will also pick out a free book this week thanks to sponsors and book grants at Idaho Hill Elementary. Idaho Family Reading Week is sponsored by the Idaho Commission for Libraries. This year’s theme is believe and achieve.

The primary objectives of the Idaho Family Reading Week program are to emphasize the importance of daily family/caregiver reading time and its support of early childhood literacy, said Idaho Commissions for Libraries. In addition the program strives to connect families/caregivers of young children with the early literacy resources available at local public and school libraries to help them prepare their child for school success. The program hopes to help every family and caregiver to obtain a public library card and visit a public or school library.
