No time for the gym? Life packed with workout opportunities

| November 24, 2021 1:00 AM

What do you see.....?

Some see a wide open space.

Some see a boring expanse on their way to get from Point A to Point B.

Some see an empty hotel and wonder where everyone went.

Some see a strange looking carpet.

When I go to a hotel, I see:

The perfect area to do some sprints. Or lunges around the edges of the carpet. Or monster walks around the yellow-ish circles in the carpet.

I see an amazing workout opportunity.

Of course, some also think my brain is a little obsessed THAT way. Whatever. It’s just who I am. And, while I have a choice to just sit and ponder “life” on a Sunday, I “will” … just as soon as I jump around a little.

And, no ladies, you don’t need to worry about looking silly and wonder who is watching you because here’s the dealio — it doesn’t matter. Whoever happens to be watching with a weird glance — doesn’t know your heart and what you are doing for you.

Yeah, love the heck out of your life. And. Do. Your. Thaaaaaaang. Stop about who is watching or who isn’t watching. Nobody cares.

That’s the really cool thing about life. Everything is a choice. Right?

The point is, there is ALWAYS an opportunity to work out, to incorporate fitness into our world.

Here are some other options for those of you who think they are too busy.

  1. During your drive to work, practice holding your core.
  2. Ladies, while you are applying your mascara, stand on one foot and work on your stability.
  3. Boys, while you are relaxing in your favorite chair tonight watching your new favorite show on your go-to streaming, cable or satellite service, do a few crunches or leg lifts during the commercial (or whenever).
  4. Kids, instead of playing video games, get on your bike and go for a ride or, help mom with your dirty laundry, doing squats and lunges while you work. See how long you can whistle while you stand on one leg.

The simplicity here is that everyone has time to fit some type of activity into their daily life. It doesn’t matter if you are standing, sitting, laying down, working, grocery shopping, etc. there is always an opportunity for a little bit of exercise.

There is always an opportunity to work out, whether it is hitting the trails for or doing lunges around the house — or down a hotel hallway.
