SANDPOINT — Sandpoint Parks and Recreation is offering a youth basketball program for third to sixth graders and a Little Dribblers program for first and second graders.

Play in the youth basketball program is split into third/fourth grade girls, third/fourth grade boys, fifth/sixth grade girls and fifth/sixth grade boys. Play starts Feb. 5 and ends on March 12, 2022.

The registration deadline is Sunday, Jan. 9. Cost is $34.50 ($5.25 non-resident fee).

Adult volunteer coaches are needed for the program and you can sign-up during program registration.

The Little Dribblers program is designed to introduce children to the sport of basketball and teach the basics of the game with a heavy emphasis on dribbling and ball handling.

Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and volunteers are needed for this program. Sign-up to volunteer during online registration. No special basketball background is needed.

Scholarships are available for all youth league sports. Call 208-263-3613 for more information.

A red/white nylon mesh reversible sports jersey is required for both programs. They may be purchased online or at the Parks and Recreation office if you do not already have one. Jerseys cost $14.50. The programs also allow red and white reversible jerseys from other organizations to be used in the leagues.
