Nov. 28, 1971 – NEW FARMIN BROWNIES
Brownie Troop 487 held an investiture ceremony at New Farmin school. Troop members are Jill Hartley, Tam Hiatt, Janet Dexter, Vonda Pratt, Angela Nelson, Heidi Overholser, Marcy Parsons, Teresa Thompson, Wendy Warwick, Susan Lewis, Joann Martinez, Susan Petzak, Lisa Gibbon and Maria Williams. Mrs. Sonja Overholser is troop leader and Mrs. Judy Parsons is assistant leader. Sponsor of the troop is Lakeshore Motors.

BOYER CUTOFF WORK HALTED UNTIL SPRING
The half-mile long cutoff between Boyer Rd. and US 95, intended to relieve Schweitzer Ski Basin traffic congestion this winter and originally scheduled for completion this fall, has been delayed by wet weather. Construction will cease until spring breakup. The cutoff has been a subject of controversy since its proposal last year by the Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce. It is advocated by the chamber, but opposed by others on ground that the Airport Cutoff (via E. Mountain View Drive and Popsicle Bridge), if improved and widened, could accomplish the same result.

LOCAL ARABIAN WINS TOP HONORS
At the U.S. National Championships Arabian and Half-Arabian Horse Show in Oklahoma City, a 3-year old colt, Hujjeeson, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Balch, was named National Reserve Champion Futurity Arabian Stallion. Mr. and Mrs. Balch operate River Ridge Arabians Farm on Lakeshore Drive.

Nov. 28, 1921 – MILL CLOSES DOWN
With the minus 10 temperature of last week, the Humbird mill closed down for the season, the log pond frozen solidly. Other operations about the plant have not been bothered and the planer will continue to operate upon the same basis as heretofore.

NEW STORE FOR WESTMOND
W.J. and T.M. Reid have opened a new and up-to-date country store in the progressive Bonner county community of Westmond. They will not only carry a complete stock of groceries and farm supplies, but of fresh meats and fresh bread, received daily. They have chosen the name “Trading Centre” for the new enterprise. They will exchange commodities with the farmers and ranchers including eggs, poultry and dairy products, at highest current market price.

COLEMAN NOT OPPOSED
In a statement to the Review, E.G. Coleman from north of town stated he was not the man circulating a petition in Sandpoint asking that the state highway be surveyed to come in on N. Boyer avenue. “Someone was evidently mistaken for me,” said Mr. Coleman. “I don’t like to see the present road closed, as I understand it will be with the construction of the new state road down Sand creek and entering Sandpoint on N. Fourth, but I have not offered opposition, as I realize delay would be detrimental to construction and connection with the completed road north of town.”
