Office sought: Sandpoint City Council

  1. Having felt intuitively called for some time, when many long-time residents felt I had what Sandpoint needed and repeatedly encouraged me to run, I accepted. Placing the rest in my higher power’s hands, I continue to take right action, and steadfast in my commitment to represent with integrity the needs of Sandpoint and its residents.

  2. My experience is far reaching and extensive. From large big budget television and film production to non-profit and small business ownership. My living and travel experience gives me a unique insight into the dynamics at play in Sandpoint, allows for a deeper wisdom and understanding of team building, leadership, and project management.

  3. My top priorities are building a strong foundation to move forward through aggressively addressing crumbling infrastructure to accommodate intelligent responsible growth, housing and employment issues through diversification and sound ideas and innovation, and securing Individual Liberty and one’s right to choose through health freedom.

  4. My goal is to diversify the economy and set a strong foundation for growth and wellness, offering greater economic independence for the city and its residents now and into the future. The issues we face are complex. Therefore there is no easy solution.

The city needs a hard pause on spending until critical infrastructure is properly addressed, such as waste and water treatment. In addition, the city proposes an increase to 75% high density living, and states it is the will of residents. Why would increasing density come before addressing critical infrastructure? Sandpoint’s Comprehensive Plan needs to be readdressed with the community and council. The burden of proof is on the city and council to show how increased density will preserve culture and enhance wellbeing.

Furthermore, the city must remove itself from any role wherein health directives are delivered or enforced. The city has no role in administering healthcare practices and cannot accept the liability therein. Residents and business owners of Sandpoint are responsible for their own health and policies.

  1. The first thing I would do if elected would be to aggressively advocate for the aforementioned issues. Develop understanding and issue based solutions through public interaction and workshopping.

  2. Regionalization is bandied about as a talking point but hardly ever goes deep in discussion. The public must be fully engaged and informed on what it means to regionalize local issues.

  3. Only through innovation will we find solutions. It comes from self reliance and free thinking. Only through cooperation does a society, a city, thrive and become self reliant, independent, and yet still part of the whole. A community that embraces growing its own food, producing its own energy, and not relying on external grants and resources is positioned to self-govern. With access to ample clean water, nutrient rich soil, diverse natural resources, and a hardy population with abundant human capital, Sandpoint has all the necessary ingredients to achieve large-scale community independence. We must work to recognize ourselves in each other. Understand with compassion. And be willing to lay down the banners that divide us. All this is done by investing our faith in something greater than our selves and taking right action.

  4. I do not believe the existing government is going in the right direction. The public in general has had enough with career politicians, executive power abuses (federal, state, and municipal) via mandates and orders, powers given to unelected officials, and crony-capitalist penetration. Residents believe their government is not working in their best interest and their wants, needs, voices and liberty are being ignored.

  5. If I could ask one question of all candidates it would be this: How much of your integrity does the promise of another dollar buy? For me, not one drop.

  6. If employers wish to attract and keep workers there needs to be greater overall opportunity by diversifying the economy. Train and empower the community with hard skills. Focus on innovations in the labor force, food production, energy, education, technology, responsible growth and more, thus creating a bedrock of economic independence and sustainability.

  7. When I hear talking points like “workforce housing” it calls to mind the communist agenda of China. Sandpoint will not become a little “China” under my representation. Nor will it become a playground for the “haves” like Aspen, Breckenridge, Vail and the like. Responsible innovative growth is the answer. American liberty and knowhow will get us where we want to go. The residents of Sandpoint are strong, intelligent and resourceful. It is time we tap that resource for more than just service industry principles that cater to the few.

  8. I will involve residents through community outreach, personal interaction and communication. Be involved and build trust through the integrity of my character, and the dignity of my action.
