KOOTENAI — Litehouse’s Giving Committee has donated $10,250 to local PTAs and schools.

“With the limited fundraising activities for PTAs and school this year, we knew that we wanted to help,” said Jule Kern, consumer marketing manager at Litehouse.

Schools receiving donations are Sagle Elementary, Washington Elementary, Kootenai Elementary, Sandpoint High School, Clark Fork Jr./Sr. High, Northside Elementary, Sandpoint Middle School and Hope Elementary.

The Giving Committee is a group of employee owners that aim to execute the Litehouse mission of valuing service over self-interest, said Alice Sloane, Litehouse regional business manager and giving community member.

Sloane said it is Litehouse policy that a percentage of the company’s annual net income is given to local communities through charitable donations. In addition, Litehouse has set a goal of having 10,000 volunteer hours annually.

Committee members have decided to focus efforts on the community’s youth with an emphasis on supporting education, health and fitness, shelters and food banks.

In the last year, Litehouse has contributed over $500,000 to organizations such as local food banks, churches, youth sporting events and numerous other non-profit organizations. They also adopt families for the holiday season.
