Reclaim Idaho, not legislators, helping Idahoans

| September 21, 2021 1:00 AM

Reclaim Idaho is currently collecting signatures for an initiative that will bring $300 million to K-12 schools in Idaho each year.  This is money that is desperately needed by our rural schools here in Bonner County.  Priest River would see approximately $1.2 million in additional funding every year.  That’s nearly half of the amount of their recent school levy that passed in May.  Think of what they could do for their kids with that money.

LPOSD would see an increase in their budget of $3.8 million and could use that money to expand their career tech programs which currently turns kids away each semester.  After-school programs could be fully funded so that parents would have a safe place for their kids to continue their learning after school.  Support staff could see raises to help them earn a livable wage.

There are currently over 2800 people in Bonner County who have healthcare who would still be in the gap, during the pandemic no less, had it not been for the hard work of over 1500 Reclaim volunteers across our state.  There are over 150 volunteers here in Sandpoint who collected signatures during the winter months to bring healthcare to their friends and family.

Reclaim Idaho found a way to help Idahoans when their legislators would not. Instead of criticizing Reclaim Idaho, perhaps people should be asking their representatives why they are ignoring the needs of their constituents.
