Fill your daily cup of coffee with love

SANDPOINT — Evans Brothers is creating a new blend, called the Love Blend that is being released this month.

A portion of all online and cafe sales of the Love Blend beans will go to the Bonner County Human Rights Task Force

“BCHRTF is thrilled to be partnering with the caring individuals at Evans Brothers, and using money raised to continue our tradition of creating a community where all feel welcome," Linda Navarre, task force board co-chair, said.

The blend is the latest partnership between Evans Brothers and the human rights task force.

“This enhances the collaborative relationship already existing between BCHRTF and Evans Brothers as they have in the past hosted the Art for Human Rights exhibit and the annual 100,000 Poets for Change events," Brenda Hammond, task force board co-chair, said.

This year’s blend highlights two coffees, one from Ethiopia and the other from Brazil. The result is a medium roast coffee, with a silky body and tasting notes of molasses, hazelnut, and chocolate covered strawberries, Evans Brothers officials said.

People interested in drinking great coffee, while at the same time supporting the BCHRTF can pick up the new Love Blend at the local Evans Brothers cafe, 524 Church St., and online at evansbrotherscoffee.com.

The Bonner County Human Rights Task Force has been active in the community since 1992. With a membership of well over 300, the task force works to promote tolerance, support human dignity, and educate adults and youth across the county.

BCHRTF members said the group strives to speak out whenever the rights, the safety, or the dignity of any individual are threatened by intolerance or bigotry. The task force is determined to help build a community in which every individual can live without fear or intimidation, a community in which every citizen’s strength and contribution is valued, respected, and encouraged, Hammond and Navarre said.

Located in Sandpoint, Evans Brothers Coffee was started by brothers Rick and Randy Evans in the summer of 2009. They developed their vision for this family-owned business over long lift rides at Schweitzer Mountain Resort's Chair 6 in the winter of 2008-'09. Randy had worked in specialty coffee for a decade, while Rick had a background in business development, sales, and marketing.

Their intention with the business would be to create a long-lasting company that would add value to their communities, and strive to connect people with the story of the coffee itself. They would create special experiences around a cup of coffee, showcasing the producers and importers that do so much of the real work. Traveling to origin and connecting at this level has always been important.

Equally as important to the brothers has been creating a place for true connection in their communities, to inspire people and provide a sense of place.
