SHS wrestling goes 1-1 on opening day of River City Duals

POST FALLS — Sandpoint wrestling finished second in pod C at the River City Duals on Friday and will compete in the silver bracket Saturday at Post Falls High.
The Bulldogs opened the day with a crushing 85-0 defeat to Post Falls, one of the best teams in the state. The Trojans won 13 of the 15 matches by pin.
Darrian Resso fell 3-2 in a hard-fought match at 152 pounds.
Sandpoint bounced back in its final dual of the day, crushing Shadle Park 70-18.
Ashlei Hawkins, Forest Ambridge, Shane Sherrill, Calvin Hinds, Owen Wimmer, Blake Sherrill and Austin Smith all secured pins and Andrew Duke won by majority decision.
On Thursday, the Bulldogs lost a dual to Nampa, the top-ranked team in 4A, at Lakeland High.
Nampa won 66-18. Resso, Calvin Hinds and Blake Sherrill all grabbed victories by pin for Sandpoint.
The Bulldogs will wrestle in three duals in the silver bracket Saturday. Action starts at 10:30 a.m.
