Hurt by runaway accident

Jack Crombie had the misfortune to let his team run away from him with a load of logs. Mr. Crombie escaped with a bruised arm and leg. The team ran from Carey’s camp down to Merritts Spur where it was caught by Mr. Carey and Mr. Burns.

Tony bought a cake

A dance held at the Settlement Schoolhouse New Year’s Eve was well attended and a financial success besides. Tony Jachetta paid $1.50 for the last cake that was auctioned off. $30.50 was realized for the church.

The school program that was put off before Christmas on account of bad roads and stormy weather was given Jan. 3 at the grange hall. Much credit is due Mr. And Mrs. Baylor for the way the children were trained for their parts. On Friday Mr. Phillips took Mr. And Mrs. Baylor and all the school to Sandpoint at KSPT where they had a program recorded and it was put over the air on Saturday evening at 5:30.

Humor of the week: During out recent light outage, one Colin lady made the following call to the Northern Lights office. “Is this the Northern lights? Well, we haven’t seen a glimmer for days.”

(Ice and snow have kept the compiler of this column home recently, so she hasn’t been able to get to Sandpoint to pick up most of the volumes needed for 2022 entries. She did, however, already have the 1922 and 1952 volumes in her possession.)
