Darrin Kucherry

| January 18, 2022 1:00 AM

Darrin Kucherry, a lifelong resident of North Idaho, passed away the morning of December 20, 2021. His unexpected death was the result of a tragic logging accident on Hoodoo Mountain in Priest River, Idaho.

Darrin Ray Brown was born September 3, 1965, to Sandy and John Brown and later adopted by Jim Kucherry Sr. Darrin attended school in Boundary County where many would dub him as the class clown and an all-around social butterfly.

In the winter of 1994, Darrin and his love Jody Boyenger welcomed his only daughter, Linsey LaDonna, into the world. Linsey was Darrin’s pride and joy and he truly loved being her dad, and most recently a loving grandpa.

Darrin lived out his life wearing many hats, but his real passion was working in the logging industry. He spent decades logging all over the Northwest and Alaska, always smiling and enjoying every minute of it. He went by the nickname Drag-wood and on his lunch pail he wrote the motto “Live to Log, Log to Live.”

This woodsman loved the outdoors and spent much of his time hunting and fishing. Rugged and rebellious by nature, and always being a kid at heart. Many people enjoyed his kind-hearted, funny, generous and clever, down-to-earth soul. His spirit will always be high octane MacGyver and animal lover. Darrin will be forever be remembered in our hearts.

Darrin is survived by his mom, Sandy Kucherry; daughter, Linsey Kucherry Hughes (Jeff); son, Avery Vernon; stepson, Brandon Crum; his sweet new granddaughter, Nellie Hughes; sister, Penny Smith; brothers Wayne Smith, and Mike Brown; uncle Tim and aunt Darla Lindsey; cousins, Branden and Caleb Dowell; along with many nieces and nephews, including extended family and friends that were near and dear to him.

Darrin is preceded in death by many he loved including his dad, John Brown; adopted dad, Jim Kucherry; grandpa Oren and grandma Lucille Dowell; grandma Goldie and grandpa Ray Lindsey; uncle Ronny; cousins Oliver and Aram Dowell; niece, Sadie Smith; and brother in-law Glenn Fodge.

A memorial service celebrating Darrin’s life is being planned at a later date.

Condolences can be sent to the Kucherry Family at P.O. Box 1051 Sagle, ID 83860
