Forrest Bird Charter School junior Ada Greve recently received the College Board’s National Rural and Small-Town Recognition Award.

Greve received the award based on her academic achievements and grade point average in school and outstanding performance on the PSAT/NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying test).

Greve began her participation in Idaho’s Advanced Opportunities program through FBCS in the seventh grade. Greve, who has a full class schedule at North Idaho College in addition to her studies at FBCS, plans to graduate with her associates degree in general sciences from NIC.

While she is open about her college choices for her Bachelor’s degree, Greve said she is interested in pursuing a degree in the areas of science, mathematics and literature.

In her spare time, Greve dances for Allegro Dance studio and is an elite member on Allegro’s competition team, Gems. She also is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, an honor society for college students.

The College Board National Recognition Programs create pathways to college for underrepresented students by awarding them academic honors and connecting them with universities across the country, according to its website. In addition to being from a rural area or small town, students eligible for the award must have taken the PSAT/NMSQT in October of their junior year and achieve the minimum requested scores.
