SANDPOINT — The Sasquatch will have a Sandpoint Bulldog on their volleyball roster this coming fall.

Senior Tori Pelkey recently signed her National Letter of Intent to play volleyball at Spokane Falls Community College. Pelkey celebrated her commitment Tuesday at Sandpoint High with friends and family.

Pelkey was a force at middle blocker for the Bulldogs this past fall and she earned a spot on the all-league volleyball team.

Initially, SFCC wasn't at the top of Pelkey's list when she started looking for her future home. But Pelkey said the head coach there, Taylor Stewart, personally reached out to her and invited her on a visit, and the rest is history.

"Once I went there I got to meet all the girls and they were super inviting, super sweet," she said. "I just fell in love with the team and the coach."

At first, Pelkey said she wasn't sure about playing volleyball at the next level, but the coaches she's worked with over the years, including Karen Alsager, helped bring that passion and desire out of her.

"I feel like a lot of my coaches have influenced my love for the sport," she said. "They've made me into the athlete I am today."
