2022 NI Lakers 16U Beats Northern Lakes Mountaineers 16U by Ten Runs

Following several rain outs, the 2022 Peak Sand & NI Lakers 16U legion team was finally able to step on the field.

The Lakers improved their league record to 2-0 following an 11-1 win against Northern Lakes Mountaineers 16U on Thursday at War Memorial Field.

The game was called in the sixth due to the 10-run rule.

The Lakers strung together three runs during the sixth inning to finish out the game.

The Lakers' offense in the inning came from a sacrifice fly to deep center field by Dallen Williams scoring Jorden Tyler after tagging up at third.

The Lakers put two more runners on base with a Parker Reichart single and Cooper Zimmer walk.

Soren Caprio sealed the deal by hitting the game winning walk off his second triple of the game, scoring both Reichart and Zimmerman..

Williams got the win on the mound for the Lakers.

He lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing zero runs on three hits while striking out five. Mason Little threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

The Lakers collected 11 hits in the game.

Caprio, Mason Little and Williams each collected multiple hits. Caprio led the Lakers with two triples and a double in five at bats.

Williams and Little both went two-for-four on the day. Jorden Tyler, Jacob Hansen, Zimmerman and Reichart each collected hits.

The Lakers are playing a compressed schedule this weekend due to rain makeup games.

They will face Rogers on Friday at 7 p.m. at War Memorial Field and will travel to Rogers on Saturday with game times slated for 1 and 3 p.m. To close the weekend, on Sunday, the Lakers will face off against Deer Park in doubleheader at 11 a.m.
