Mission Valley 10-runs NI Lakers in five innings

LIBBY — The NI Lakers 19U baseball team gave up 10 runs in the opening two innings to Mission Valley on Thursday.

Mission Valley would go on to add six more runs in the fourth inning for the final 16-2 margin.

The Lakers went through three pitchers during the game, starting with Mike Riley.

Riley pitched one inning where he gave up nine runs off of nine hits including a homerun.

Alex Leverich came in relief of Riley and pitched two and one thirds innings, giving up six runs on five hits, striking out two.

Leverich also gave up a home run during his time on the hill.

Dillon Terry was the final pitcher to come in for the Lakers; he pitched two thirds of an inning giving up one run on two hits striking out zero.

The Lakers were still effective at the plate; they just couldn’t capitalize by getting runners home. Mission Valley only outhit the Lakers 16-11.

FInn Mellander, Mick Koch, and Trevor Brackett all notched two hits each.

Mellander notched a double in the top of the fifth inning.

It was an RBI double on a line drive hit into right field that scored Cameron Garcia.

Dillon Terry also notched an RBI in the top of the fifth with an RBI single down the second base line to score Zeke Roop.
