LACLEDE — While parked to investigate an abandoned vehicle on U.S. 2 near Laclede, Idaho State Police said a Bonner County Sheriff's Office deputy's vehicle was struck from behind by a white Nissan pickup.

The collision happened about 6:48 p.m. in the 16000 block of U.S. 2 near Laclede. No information was given on the deputy involved in the collision and the driver of the pickup truck is a 36-year-old male from Oldtown.

Idaho State Police said the drivers of both vehicles sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported by ground ambulance to a nearby hospital. It is unknown if the occupant of the pickup was wearing a seatbelt, ISP officials said in a press release.

Evidence was found on scene to indicate that alcohol may have been involved in this crash. That evidence is part of the ongoing investigation.

The highway was partially blocked during the vehicle recovery and crash investigation for several hours.
