LACLEDE — An Oldtown man has been charged with driving under the influence following a crash involving a Bonner County Sheriff deputy's vehicle last week.

Jonathan L. Bauer, 36, was charged Tuesday with a misdemeanor count of driving under the influence, according to an Idaho State Police press release.

ISP officials said the March 3 collision occurred while the deputy was parked on U.S. 2 near Laclede at 6:48 p.m. to investigate an abandoned vehicle. While the deputy was investigating, ISP said the deputy's vehicle was struck from behind by a white Nissan pickup driven by Bauer.

The collision, which happened about 6:48 p.m., partially blocked the highway in the 16000 block of U.S. 2.

No information was given on the deputy involved in the collision.

Idaho State Police said the drivers of both vehicles sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported by ground ambulance to a nearby hospital. It is unknown if the occupant of the pickup was wearing a seatbelt, ISP officials said in a press release.

Evidence was found on scene to indicate that alcohol may have been involved in this crash. That evidence is part of the ongoing investigation.

The highway was partially blocked during the vehicle recovery and crash investigation for several hours.
