All this wokeness not based in reality

| May 19, 2022 1:00 AM

As being an old-timer now as many readers of this paper, all this wokeness and free stuff bugs me.

My father, George Gregory, came to Bonner County in 1908. I was born and raised in Bonner County. In our day and age, we were taught to work, it was an honest day's dollar for an honest day's work. But nowadays, too many young people want "something for nothing" and sadly, a lot of adults also. It is especially hard to get high school kids to work; at our store, we have a difficult time.

Then there was this Biden deal, of paying people to stay home, that was unbelievable. Biden should fire all his advisors; they don't seem to know anything. When Bill Clinton was president, he was smart enough to recognize problems. Consequently, he got rid of his advisors and brought in people who knew what they were doing. He then worked with Republican, Newt Gingrich, Speaker of the House, and they almost balanced the budget.

As to inflation, it is simple economics that has been taught forever that inflation is caused by "too much money chasing too few goods." But Biden doesn't get it, and he also doesn't understand the results of supply and demand, i.e., housing prices, if short supply, prices go up, if big inventory, less demand, prices go down. That applies to everything, but his advisors just don't get it.

The Democrats believe, if there is a problem, throw more money at it. As to gasoline prices, Biden has bent to the "green new deal" people and has put the damper on the oil companies. Like no drilling on federal land anymore. Of the 6,000 leases he says are out there, 2,000 are tied up in court by people opposed. The rest have had so many new government restrictions on them that they are hardly processing at all.

To sum it up, when Harry Truman, was president, he said "the buck stops here" and he meant it and did it. Biden also said "the buck stops here." But that is the joke of the year, he blames everyone else and everything else for the problems of this country. He doesn't take responsibility. Probably the conservatives of Bonner County will agree with me. The new liberals moving into Sandpoint, probably not.
