A suggestion for an annual award

| May 19, 2022 1:00 AM

There are so many things to love about living in North Idaho, from the beautiful scenic drives below the majestic mountains to the joy of public gatherings and the 4th of July parades.

But, for me, I believe we should recognize certain individuals who personally have helped all of us through their words and deeds. I am thinking of one individual who has inspired all of us with her love of Nature, gardening, cooking and family.

Her love of feeding wildlife , helpful hints on gardening and cooking insights and recipes as well as photos and sharing of family visits has made life much richer. Seeing how one person relates their love of life offers a gift to all of us in the community.

I, therefore, propose fellow residents help in creating an annual presentation: The Valle Novak Humanitarian Award. Perhaps the Daily Bee could sponsor such an award if others don't step forward. Hereafter, nominations could be held each April.

There are perhaps a dozen service organizations and many other individuals who offer so much to all of us in our lives while living in North Idaho. I believe we can recognize them all.
