MULLAN — Two games in two days with a third on the horizon?

The Wampus Cats handled the challenge, defeating Mullan on Tuesday and Priest River on Wednesday.

The Wampus Cats went to Mullan Tuesday and came away with a three-set win, 25-16, 25-17 and 25-17 — and possibly the top spot in North Star League as well.

Paige Valliere had 15 assists, Eloise Shelton had five kills and four aces, Emily Myers had four aces and eight digs. In addition, Federica Pacifico and Amari Printz-Hay each added a block for the Wampus Cats, and Lilly Reuter had four aces.

"We played well and got the job done, we have secured 1st place in our league and was able to get some freshman in that normally don't see playing time so all in all it was a good night."

On Wednesday, Clark Fork continued its winning ways, defeating cross-county rival Priest River on the road, 25-23, 25-17, 25-21.

The Wampus Cats "went in there and played their game, staying in control throughout the game, coach Michelle Valliere said.

Clark Fork faltered in the third set, letting the Spartans pull close and erasing some of their 18-8 lead.

"They were able to get us out of sync and not playing our game," Valliere said. "But I'm proud of the girls and how they were able to play through it."

While the Spartans were able to score a few points here and a few points there, Valliere said Clark Fork was able to prevent any huge runs.

Eloise Shelton led Clark Fork with 14 digs and eight kills, Amari Printz-Hay had a block for the team, Paige Valliere had 25 assists, and Aime Matteson had three aces.

Clark Fork plays Genesis Prep at home Thursday.
