Bulldog girls win Sandpoint Invite

SANDPOINT — Audrey Sheffler shot a personal best of 83 to earn medalist honors and lead Sandpoint to the team title at the Sandpoint Invitational at The Idaho Club.
The Bulldogs shot 350, 27 strokes ahead of second-place Coeur d'Alene.
In the boys tournament, Coeur d’Alene shot 293, 27 strokes ahead of second-place Lewiston. Luke West shot a 6-under-par 65 on Monday to earn medalist honors and lead Coeur d’Alene to the team title.
Sandpoint finished in fourth with a team score of 358. Leading the Bulldogs was Jake Samuels, who shot 81 on the day.
The tourney was the final one of the regular season. The 5A Region 1 tournament will be played Thursday at The Links in Post Falls. The 4A Region 1 tournament will be played Thursday at The Idaho Club.
A junior and the girls team's "elder statesman," Sandpoint coach Mike Deprez said Sheffler had a strong day on the course.
"Audrey played great," Deprez said been waiting for that round and she finally had that round."
The boys did well, but the team was again missing Jacob Gove, who is sick. Rusty Lee and Austin Dillon are playing well and are "very close to shooting their very, very good round," Deprez said.
