Have you ever wanted to create beautiful abstract paintings to decorate your home or office, but just don’t have the time?

Maybe you’ve convinced yourself that you don’t have the artistic talent to create something worth showcasing. What if I told you that you could learn how to make incredible and wild works of art in just a couple of minutes using paint, the handle of a brush and a can of shaving cream?

Visit the library Friday, Feb. 10, at 3:30 p.m. to learn about paper marbling. The library will have supplies on hand so that you can create gorgeous works of art that you’ll get to take home with you. This event is geared toward adults, but teens are welcome. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, you can create a custom card for that special someone in your life, or just as simply frame it for yourself and show the world your unrivaled genius.

The core of this activity is so simple that anyone can do it. Beginners will love creating wild, psychedelic patterns and smooth, blended transitions of color. Experienced artists can apply a few extra steps, such as blending mediums or applying a flick technique to the finished piece to create depth and dimension.

Paper marbling has been used by artists for centuries to create interesting features on book bindings, end pages and even one-of-a-kind origami. Each time you create a piece of art using this technique, the pattern is destroyed as you remove the sheet from the solution. This makes every piece truly unique and impossible to perfectly recreate.

We hope to see you at the library!
