| January 7, 2023 1:00 AM

Alice Mae Peterson, 86, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022, in Hayden, Idaho.

Private family services have been held.

Alice was born in Missoula, Mont., to James and Vadelma Sloan. She grew up and attended schools in West Seattle, Wash.

Alice married Duane Peterson in Thompson Falls, Mont., celebrating nearly 67 years of marriage. They had three children, Dawn, Kathy and Brett.

After raising three children, she started working for Encoder Products in the late 1970s and retired after 10 years.

She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and helping with the raising of the great-grands. She would say they all kept her going, which they did. She attended school functions, fair events, wrestling matches, bowling tournaments and rarely missed a birthday. In her early years, she loved to read, knit and meet for luncheons with her best girlfriends. Alice loved taking road trips with Duane, using the excuse to avoid the mud season, traveling most of the western United States.

She is survived by her two daughters, Dawn (Dave) Smith, and Kathy (Gil) Robison; a son, Brett (Sally) Peterson; eight grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Joline Helton of Tulalip, Wash.; and a brother, Fred (Paulette) Sloan of Longview, Wash.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, Mary; baby sister, Kathleen Sloan; a brother, James Sloan Jr.; husband, Duane; granddaughter, Holly Peterson; and a great-grandson, Chase Davis.

Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint is handling the arrangements. Please visit Alice’s online memorial at www.lakeviewfuneral.com and sign her guest book.
