| January 19, 2023 1:00 AM

It is with deep sadness that we announce Arlyn's passing on Jan. 9, 2023. She was born Nov. 18, 1946, to Arnie Russell and Gloria Faye Gunderson in Stanley, N.D., as the second of four daughters. In 1951, the family moved to Clark Fork, Idaho.

She graduated from CFHS in 1967 and attended Lewis-Clark State College, the University of Idaho, the University of Nevada, Reno and Washington State University, where she received a degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1997.

In earlier years, she worked as a legal secretary in Sandpoint, Idaho. In 1999, she began her practice of veterinary medicine in Selah, Wash., and in Shasta Lake, Calif., until a stroke paralyzed her in 2011. Later that year, she married Troy Orr, who has been her constant companion and support. They made their home in Red Bluff, Calif., and Tullahoma, Tenn.

Arlyn had a deep love of animals and rescued many, including horses, dogs and cats.

She is survived by her husband, Troy Orr, of Tullahoma; his daughters, Amanda Orr Taylor and Christina Orr; sisters, Sharon Olson Gibson (Rick) and Carol MacPhee (John), of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; Cathy Munson (Dale) of Joplin, Mont., numerous nieces and nephews; and longtime friend, Nona Jones (Loren) of Athol, Idaho.

There will be a celebration of life in the summer of 2023 in Coeur d'Alene.
