Berneice Simcox, 90

| June 1, 2023 1:00 AM

Berneice Helen Simcox passed away on May 24, 2023, at the wonderful age of 90.

Berneice was born on May 8, 1933, in the backroom of a grocery store in Shawmut, Wheat County, Montana, to Alice Cecelia and Fredrick George Zeier. Berneice was the fourth born of seven children, with four brothers and two sisters, Freda, Lewis, Robert, Lois, Francis and Michael. She was the last surviving sibling of all seven children.

On March 17, 1949 (St Patrick's Day) while sitting at a cafe in Ryegate, Montana, Berneice looked up from her table through a window across from her and set her eyes on the most handsome man she had ever seen. He was playing music from the jukebox. And she said, "I'm going to marry that man." And that's exactly what she did — just a few short months later Charles Sheldon Simcox and Berneice were married. On September 19, 1949, Berneice Zeier married the one true love of her lifetime and became Mrs. Berneice Simcox.

Charles and Berneice soon started their own family and had two beautiful children, Charles Simcox Jr. and Terry Simcox Sr.

In 1972, Berneice became ill and made a decision to join the church. So she packed up and made the move to Paradise, Montana. She was joined shortly after by Charles. She became very involved with the church from then on. She was a wonderful daughter, wife, and mother. She took pride in taking care of her family and was a dedicated homemaker, baking and cooking from scratch, crocheting, knitting, and even sewing her own clothes.

Berneice is survived by her two sons, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, and even her great-great-grandchildren;

Chuck Simcox, his three children, Ed and Paula, their two children, Kaleb and Karlee Simcox, and a great-great-grandbaby, Bryler Simcox; Chuck's son, Paul and Heidi Simcox, and great-grandbaby, Aspen Simcox; Chuck's daughter, Crystal Simcox, her three children, Zack, Haley, and Gage Hull; and great-great-grandbaby on the way in July;

Terry and Sharon Simcox, their three children, Sheree and Scott Thompson, their children Jordan, Nadin, and Tanner, and great-great-grandbaby, Hayden (September 12, 2019-January 3, 2020);

Terry Jr. and Amanda Simcox, their children Luccas, Skyler, and Ayson. And Jay Ostrander and her daughter Kendra Ostrander.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 5, at 1 p.m. at Plains Cemetery in Plains, Montana, followed by a potluck dinner at Paradise Church of God.
