NIMSEF now accepting applications for upcoming winter season

SANDPOINT — The North Idaho Mountain Sports Education Fund, also known as NIMSEF, recently announced that it is now accepting applications for the upcoming ski season.

NIMSEF, in its 15th season, is hoping to sponsor a record of more than a combined 75 snowboarders and skiers this season. The program, which started in 2010, is dedicated to helping local youths in Bonner and Boundary counties experience Schweitzer, especially those that would otherwise never have the opportunity.

NIMSEF understands that the costs of skiing and snowboarding are too expensive for most of the local families living in North Idaho, which is why the program exists in the first place.

Schweitzer has agreed to work with NIMSEF over the years to set up this program, which provides greatly discounted tuition for scholarship students to participate in an eight week, all-day program. All youths from 7 to 17 years old, who qualify based on economic need, can receive a season pass, bus pass, and equipment rental.

Not to fear, Schweitzer puts children in groups of similar age and ability and the group stays with the same coach for the entire program. All coaches are certified instructors. The program takes place on a Saturday or Sunday, but the season pass and equipment rentals are valid all season.

If interested in enrolling a child in the program, visit nimsef.com/how-to-apply. The due date is Oct. 15, 2024.

If you have any questions about the program, would like to get involved as a corporate sponsor, would like to make a donation, or for more information contact nimsef@gmail.com, visit nimsef.com., or contact director Jeff Rouleau at 208-267-7010.
