PREP BOYS WRESTLING: McLaimtaig, Rapier impressive for Spartans at Dick Griswold Memorial

POTLATCH — Priest River High senior Colm McLaimtaig won the 144-pound title while freshman Billy Rapier placed second at 126 pounds to lead the Spartans to a fourth-place team finish at the Dick Griswold Memorial Invite held Saturday at Potlatch High.

McLaimtaig, who won the 2A 138-pound title in 2024 and is riding a 22-match win streak dating back to last season, won all four of his matches by pin. Rapier, in his varsity debut, won two matches by pin and one by a major decision before falling just shy in the finals.

Levi Holbrook (98) was second, Liam Pettit (120) third, and Jack Zalewski (113) and Orion Grimes (132) fourth in their respective weight classes for the Spartans, which return to action Friday and Saturday for North Idaho College's Tri-State Tournament.
