Swim instructor assistants are needed

| July 10, 2024 1:00 AM

The Pend Oreille Rowing and Paddling Association and Long Bridge Swim Association are seeking swim instructor assistants to provide free swim and water safety lessons in August.

The assistant swim instructors are needed to support this program, PORPA officials said. Assistant instructors will be paid an hourly rate and will be reimbursed for travel expenses.

Paid training will also be held the week of Aug. 4.

Classes, which will be held at the Riley Creek Recreation area, are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays the weeks of Aug. 6, Aug. 13 and Aug. 20. Lessons will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily.

Assistant instructors must know how to swim and be able to help kids feel safe and comfortable. PORPA said the positions are a great opportunity for students in the Priest River and Newport areas and teens between the ages 13-17 are encouraged to apply.

Assistant swim instruction training will be provided by the lead water safety instructor, Sean Bostrom.

Those interested should contact Bostrom at 208-597-3398 for more information.
