SANDPOINT — The launch of one of the area’s preeminent events is just two days away.

On Thursday evening, concertgoers will flock to War Memorial Field to welcome the jam rock band Blues Traveler and kick off the 2024 Festival at Sandpoint. In total, the venue will host nine shows over 11 days for what is slated to be one of the most exciting weeks of the summer.

Jason Mraz, Trombone Shorty, and Maren Morris are among the artists that will appear at the festival. As of July 22, general admission tickets are still available for all nine shows.

To ensure the events go smoothly, the nonprofit organizers of the event have shared a few tips for concertgoers.

Free parking will be available at Sandpoint High School on the day of every show. An accessible shuttle bus will run continuously between the high school and War Memorial Field from 4 to 11 p.m. Parking is also available on the residential streets around the venue, but it can be limited.

Attendees are encouraged to carry credit or debit cards (the festival is cashless) to buy tickets, food, and beverages. Outside food and drink are allowed, but glass containers and hard-sided coolers are prohibited.

Most shows will have a standing area in front of the stage and seated areas on the surrounding turf; concertgoers can bring their own short or standard sized lawn chairs. Bleacher seating will also be available in the grandstand, and attendees will be allowed to bring stadium seats.

Finally, Americana/folk acts Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors and the National Parks are aiming to offer thanks to selfless members of the community. Teachers, nurses, EMTs, firefighters, police officers, veterans, and currently serving military service members can claim a free ticket to the July 28 show by filling out a form linked in a July 20 post on the Festival at Sandpoint Facebook page by noon on the day of the concert.

Tickets can be purchased at www.festivalatsandpoint.com. To avoid scams, only buy tickets through the official site.
