TRAP SHOOTING: Trio of Wampus Cats cap off successful fall season

BONNERS FERRY — The Clark Fork trap shooting team recently wrapped up the Idaho State High School Clay Target League fall season with their last scoring week, shooting with, and forming new friendships with the Duke's Claybusters youth trap shooting team of Bonners Ferry.  

In the fall, the Wampus Cats compete in the 1A Conference 1 against the Innovate Academy and Preparatory School, Lewiston High School, Parma High School, and The Ambrose School. On Oct. 26 the season officially came to a close and the results were as follows: Male — Kyler Heilman, T-4th; Breckham Noble, 10th; Females — Rebecca Heilman, 4th. In addition to being fourth in the conference standings, Kyler Heilman was tied for ninth in the state with a season average of 20.8.

Overall, Clark Fork finished fourth in the team standings with a total of 237.5 points after five weeks of shooting.

"This has been an incredible season for our Clark Fork trap team," coach Amanda Heilman said. "Our team continued to make huge strides in their shooting ability and mental toughness this season. Our conference and state scores show how competitive our students are becoming. We are looking forward to continuing to build our Clark Fork trap shooting team for the spring season ahead."

The Idaho State High School Clay Target League spring season starts in March.
