5A ALL-STATE GIRLS SOCCER: Brinkmeier named Player of Year, four other Lady Bulldogs receive honors
Note: The All-Idaho teams are chosen by each classification’s coaches. Coaches in each classification voted for and selected their own teams.
ALL-STATE: Lilliana Brinkmeier
A senior goalkeeper who started all four years at the varsity level, Lilliana finished out her senior season with 201 saves and Player of the Year honors. Overall, she ended her career with an official record of 41-18-4 and registered 30 shutouts. During her freshman year, Lilliana posted an undefeated regular season and after that, led the team to three years of top state finishes — fourth in 2022, first in 2023, and second in 2024. Previously, she has received All-Inland Empire League First Team honors in 2022, 2023, 2024, was named the league MVP in 2022 and 2024, and was an All-State First Team selection in 2022 and All-State Second Team selection in 2023.
ALL-STATE: Cecilia Dignan
A junior defender, Cecilia played in 19 games and received First Team honors after leading Sandpoint to 10 shutouts this season. Previously, she has received All-Inland Empire League First Team honors in 2022, 2023 and 2024 and was an All-State First Team selection in 2023.
Notes from Coach Brinkmeier: "Cecilia is one of the best center backs in the state. She has shut down numerous forwards, some that are currently playing Division 1 soccer. She saved us from several one-on-one chances and knows how to read the game better than most. She is not a flashy player, but she is calm, cool and collected in terms of defending and distributing."
ALL-STATE: Ava Glahe
Ava, a junior defender who primarily plays outside back, had two goals and five assists across 19 games this season in order to receive Second Team honors. Previously, Ava has received All-Inland Empire League First Team honors in 2023 and 2024 and was an All-State Honorable Mention in 2023.
Notes from Coach Brinkmeier: "Ava has been a staple on our backline ... she scored two really nice goals, one where she dribbled past four defenders from the half line and scored from just outside the 18. Ava is one of the best one-on-one defenders we have had come through this program. She takes the majority of our free kicks and corner kicks."
ALL-STATE: Marlee McCrum
A senior forward, Marlee scored 12 goals and six assists over 19 games played this season in order to receive Second Team honors. Fans may recognize her for her seemingly "magical" efforts, including, but not limited to, her game-winning goal against Hillcrest in the opening round of state this year, her regular time goal to tie Middleton and force extra time, a game which ended in a Bulldogs penalty kicks win, or for her late game-winning goal in the 2023 State Championship match against Bishop Kelly. Previously, Marlee has received All-Inland Empire League First Team honors in 2023 and 2024. It's her first time being named to the All-State team ... she currently has an offer to play soccer at Central Wyoming College in Riverton, Wyo.
Notes from Coach Brinkmeier: "Marlee was the player that stepped up this year when we needed a goal scorer. She may not have had 20-plus goals, but she scored when it mattered most. Marlee is by far the best dribbler on the team and teams would usually 'man mark' her if they scouted us prior to the game."
ALL-STATE: Mackenzie Mitchell
Mackenzie, a junior defender who primarily plays outside back, had four goals and three assists across 19 games this season in order to receive Second Team honors. Previously, Mackenzie has received All-Inland Empire League First Team honors in 2023 and was an All-State First Team selection in 2023.
Notes from Coach Brinkmeier: "Kenzie is our universal player. For the most part, she lives on the backline, but when a goal was needed she would find herself playing forward. Kenzie is never one to shy away from a challenge. She loves to drift forward while playing outside back but will also be the first to track back 60 yards if needed. She was a junior captain and will be a great leader next year. She is one of the toughest players I have had the pleasure of coaching."
