Twin Lakes site to close for dredging project

| September 7, 2024 1:00 AM

The Idaho Fish and Game Twin Lakes boating access site will be closed from Sept. 18 through April 15 to allow for a dredging project, Idaho Department of Fish and game officials said in a press release.

The site is located in the channel between Upper and Lower Twin Lakes on West Twin Lakes Road.

The closure is necessary to allow for the dredging the channel between Upper and Lower Twin Lakes to provide better water quality and boating access for anglers and recreational users. The dredging project is being conducted by the Twin Lakes Improvement Association.

The Twin Lakes Improvement Association is conducting the project, which builds on similar work done two years ago. Crews will remove sediment containing organic material and phosphorus, storing it in large bags at the access site over winter before hauling it away in spring.

The channel and boat launch will be closed to the public for the duration of the project. Signage will be posted at both ends of the channel and at the boat launch.

If Twin Lakes is your fishing or recreation place of choice, don’t fret too much. The county boat launches located on Upper and Lower Twin Lakes will remain open to and accessible by the public. You can follow this link to learn more about those launches.
