All residents are urged to begin wearing red hats and fancy shirts starting tomorrow. Festivities get underway with the Elks annual Red Hat dance Saturday. Monday evening, the public is invited to attend the annual fishermen’s dinner at the Kaniksu cafe, where a number of prizes will be awarded. Fishermen are urged to bring their catches to this dinner or to register them at the Pend Oreille Sport shop.

MUST MOVE WHITEFISH SHACKS

There are several whitefish houses at the end of the city dock, left there by whitefishermen who probably intended to take them home, but forgot. With the water in the lake rising steadily, some of these houses will soon be afloat and besides, the city wants to get the waterfront in shipshape condition for visiting fishermen. “Persons who left whitefish shacks on the dock,” said a city council member, “must have them removed by Sunday afternoon, or the city will dispose of them. Some of these shacks are well built and have stoves. They will be good for use next winter if taken care of, but the owners must get busy and do something about them immediately.”
