Climate exists but climate crisis does not
When you can’t give a reasoned answer to someone, just throw a lot of sarcasm at them. That is what Lawrence Fury did in his letter of Jan. 21. Unable to prove his points about climate change, Fury writes about a nonsensical make-believe business that he is starting up which makes fun of nonexistent beliefs by those who don’t happen to agree with him.
Fury also misrepresents my own beliefs by claiming (falsely) that I am a climate denier. I have made it very clear in previous letters that I do not deny the climate, I only deny that we are in a climate “crisis.” Surely it is not that difficult to discern the difference. Does Mr. Fury have access to a dictionary?
There is absolutely no proof whatsoever that the California wildfires were caused by climate change. None. But there is plenty of evidence that Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass were both extremely negligent in not clearing the brush from those areas and in not keeping the reservoirs filled with water. The brush was supposed to have been cleared a long time ago, and insurance companies have long warned area residents about clearing trees around their own dwellings or losing their coverage. This has nothing to do with climate change, but everything to do with common sense, especially since that area of California has always been prone to wildfires.
Let us hope that Mr. Fury will step away from sarcasm and stop misrepresenting the truth.
