Local Tax-Aide sessions are set

Local options have been added for those seeking help from the AARP Foundation's free tax preparation assistance program.

Several dates have been announced at the Sandpoint Senior Center, starting Saturday. Those interested should call 208-665-7329 to schedule an appointment.

Sessions will be held Feb. 15, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.; Saturday, March 15, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.; and Saturday, April 12, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is the nation's largest volunteer-based free tax preparation service. You do not need to be a member of AARP or a retiree to use this service, and all Tax-Aide volunteers are IRS-certified.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is offered in conjunction with the IRS.

Tax-Aide has several options for providing taxpayer assistance including in-person, drop-off service, no site visit, facilitated self-assistance and more but each site varies how volunteers can deliver this service. For the most up-to-date information, visit the AARP Idaho website for details.

Tax-Aide provides tax preparation assistance services nationwide. For the 2023 tax season, more than 26,000 volunteers served more than 1.6 million taxpayers, 920,000 of whom were adults over 50 with low income. In addition, Tax-Aide participants saved more than $1.1 billion in refunds and credits; older adults with low income saved over $564 million.
