CAL sets grant application dates

| February 13, 2025 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — The season of giving for the Community Assistance League is here as the group announced applications for its grant program will be available starting March 1.

The grants, which are available to local non-profits, are funded through CAL's upscale resale shop, Bizarre Bazaar. In 2024, CAL awarded over $150,000 in grants to area nonprofits.

“The monies we are able to give back to the community are really from the community,” Beth Drain, CAL treasurer, said. “People donate goods, our volunteers polish them up and price them, and people come into the store and buy them."

Bizarre Bazaar annual proceeds make up the bulk of the monies used in its grant program, Drain said.

"Our friends and neighbors here in Bonner are the reason we can continue to do this," she added. We are so appreciative of their support.”

CAL is looking for projects that will have a significant and positive impact on the community, are innovative, and deal with important community issues.

Applications can be picked up at any Bonner County libraries, including Sandpoint, Priest River, Oldtown and Clark Fork; the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce, or Bizarre Bazaar. Applications can also be downloaded from CAL's website, CALSandpoint.org.

All applications must be submitted or postmarked by March 31, 2025. For additional information about the grants, please email the committee at CALSantpointGrants@gmail.com.
