PREP BASKETBALL: Bonners Ferry boys stay hot with convincing win over Stillwater

Bonners Ferry 74, Stillwater Christian 21

KALISPELL — It was like Brody Rice had eyes in the back of his head Friday night.

The senior guard dished out a team-high 13 assists and registered five steals while seniors Asher Williams (20) and Thomas Bateman (18) combined for 38 points and the visiting Badgers held the Cougars to 21 points, the least amount of points they've given up this season, in a dominant 53-point non-league win.

Williams grabbed nine boards, Rice and Bateman six each for Bonners Ferry, which held Stillwater Christian to just seven second-half points.

Junior Sulay Abubakari pitched in nine points, Eli Blackmore seven points and four assists.

Bonners Ferry (12-0), which continues to tally up huge wins, will host Moscow on Thursday.

SPOKANE VALLEY — Dylan Day scored a team-high 16 points as the visiting Thunder kept it close with the Oaks on Friday.

Malachi Duchow added 13 points, including two 3-pointers, and dished out six assists while Hunter Peterson added nine points, hauled in seven rebounds and sent back five shots for the Thunder, which used a 19-point third quarter to keep it neck-and-neck with The Oaks, which improve to 11-0 on the season.

The Kootenai Thunder (7-3) will be back in action today at the Christian Center School in Coeur d'Alene.

KALISPELL — Senior Sydney Hinthorn netted a team-high 18 points, 16 in the first half, and the Lady Badgers used a 26-10 second quarter advantage to roll to a win over the host Lady Cougars on Friday.

Sophomore Nollie Hiatt contributed 14 points, sophomore Eva Willis a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds for Bonners Ferry, which captured the 17-point non-league victory in the absence of Taren Bateman.

Junior Makenna Baisden added nine points, junior Alexys Mierke seven steals and junior Frankie Johnson five assists in what was a wire-to-wire performance.

Bonners Ferry (9-6) travels to Timberlake on Jan. 18 for the Backwoods Brawl.

SPOKANE VALLEY — Ella Stevens scored a team-high six points, Laura Allshouse and Mercy Brewer chipped in five each, and the visiting Lady Thunder scored 16 of their 21 points in the first half during a loss to The Oaks.

Lexi Ball added three points and came away with three steals for the Lady Thunder, which travel to the Christian Center School in Coeur d'Alene today.
