Chesebro named trial court administrator
Lisa Chesebro, a longtime attorney with experience across North Idaho, will become the next trial court administrator for the First Judicial District starting Friday, Jan. 24.
A trial court administrator keeps local courts running smoothly. They help manage court operations and implement court programs across each of Idaho’s seven judicial districts. The First Judicial District includes Benewah, Bonner, Boundary, Kootenai and Shoshone counties.
Chesebro received her law degree in 2007 from the University of Idaho School of Law. In the years since, she has worked across the First District as a public defender, prosecutor, and as a private attorney addressing probate and wills, evictions, property disputes and other matters. She has practiced law in four of the five counties that make up her district.
A resident of Shoshone County, Chesebro said she now wants to help improve the court experience in the Panhandle.
“Practicing in places as different as Coeur d’Alene and Wallace, I see the needs and strengths across our courts,” Chesebro said. “The public relies on the Judicial Branch for so many important matters. I am excited for the chance to help them better understand and better access our services.”
“Lisa is not just familiar with the courts across our district, she is invested in serving court users in the best ways we can,” said Administrative District Judge Barry McHugh. “We welcome her to the First District and look forward to what we will accomplish together.”
“The role of a trial court administrator is unique. Lisa’s work ethic and public focus will serve her district well,” said state Administrative Director of Courts Sara Omundson.
