ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Niki Porinchok, Priest River Track & Field

This week's Athlete of the Week is Niki Porinchok of Priest River Track & Field.

Niki, a 6-foot 5-inch rising senior, capped off his junior year by placing third in the discus at the 3A State Championship with a new school record throw of 158 feet, 5 inches, which ranks as 11th in the entire state of Idaho. On the season, he won seven invitationals in the event in addition to being a 3A Central Idaho League district champion. As if that wasn't impressive enough, he placed among the top three in the shot put at eight different invitationals.
