Richard Speidell, 80

Richard Herbert Speidell, 80, passed away Friday, June 20, 2025, after a massive heart attack. 

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 through 1968 plus two years as active duty. Rich and his family ran Bear Creek Guest Ranch in Essex, Mont., for many years. 

He was a board member on the Sandpoint Senior Center and was active in senior bowling on Fridays. Rich enjoyed music, playing his guitar, hanging with his dogs Kacee and Dolly, playing Wii golf and Wii bowling.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, Henry, Alan, and Paul. He is survived by his partner, Gayle Williams; brother, Walter Speidell; sons, Richard Jr. (Annette) and Scott (Shannon); a daughter, Kimberly (Darren); nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. 

A funeralce with military honors will be held at Sherman-Campbell Funeral Home, 423 W. Second St., in Newport, Wash., on Wednesday, July 2, at 1 p.m. sharp. Richard will be interred at the Washington State Veteran’s Cemetery in Medical Lake, Wash.
