County has responsibility to spend money wisely

| June 3, 2025 1:00 AM

Fresh off the defeat of the fire levy, a matter of human life and safety, due to cost to taxpayers, why are our tax dollars being "donated" to private 501(c)3?

$25,000 is a part-time employment opportunity, or a part time up to full time for benefits and increased household income.

Bonner County Historical Society answers to no one, is not a Bonner County department, yet has enjoyed their $25,000, now demanding $46,000 to cover their budget.

In these challenging economic times, seen by the strong defeat of the fire levy due to cost, keep tax money spending toward Bonner County government.

Charitable donation is generous and kind, but that is for individual and corporate donations, not tax dollars. You can contact the private museum and make your charity donation, but stop donating tax money. The people have spoken at the levy with their ballots. They are saying money is tight and dollars count.

Bonner County has a fiscal responsibility to the citizens to keep budget money within the county departments.
