LIONS PLAN THREE DAY CELEBRATION
The 1975 Lions Club’s Fourth of July celebration is one no one will want to miss. A kiddies’ parade will kick off at 9:30 a.m. Friday; then follows the grand parade, with a theme of the Bicentennial Countdown, which will travel through downtown Sandpoint and out to the Sandpoint Manor [on Division]. Kids events will be held at city beach that afternoon, and the Panhandle Racing Assn. plans a special day of stock car racing at the Colburn race track. A variety show will begin at War Memorial Field at 7 p.m., after which the Lions will give away a Ford Pinto to the lucky ticket holder. The evening will end with fireworks bursting over the Pend Oreille River. Saturday will feature a boxing card at War Memorial Field, while Kentucky Velvet will play under the stars downtown for street dancers beginning at 8 p.m. A Junior Rodeo Sunday evening at the fairgrounds will end the weekend’s festivities.
