Heather Mehra-Pedersen, a 26-year Sandpoint resident and the owner, operator, and designer behind Talus Rock Retreat, has been selected as the featured artist for the 2025 Audi FIS World Ski Cup Finals.

Set for March 21-27 in Sun Valley, the FIS World Ski Cup Finals is one of the premier events in international ski racing, bringing together the world’s top athletes for thrilling alpine competitions, and is the pre-qualifier for the Olympics. The event is expected to attract north of 20,000 spectators and participants from around the globe.

“I am elated to be part of such an energetic event and excited to share my work with a community that values both athletic excellence and artistic expression,” said Mehra-Pedersen. “This collaboration between sport and art offers a unique opportunity to explore how both worlds are united through energy, passion, and performance.”

Mehra-Pedersen’s artistic journey is as dynamic as her career from stockbroker to veterinary practice manager, and she has finally had time and space to tap into her true passion: painting. A celebrated palette knife artist and winner of the 2024 Coeur d’Alene Art of the Green poster contest, her bold textures and vibrant colors have captivated audiences nationwide. Through her signature style, she conveys emotion and energy, reflecting her passion for the natural world and the human spirit. Her work has been featured in several galleries and juried exhibitions throughout Idaho and beyond.

Having raised her children Kipling, Rio, and Selkirk — alongside her husband, Bruce, with Schweitzer Mountain as their backyard playground, Mehra-Pedersen said there was no shortage of ski-inspired imagery to fuel her creativity.

Renowned for her bold, large-scale pieces that fuse abstract realism with modern impressionism, Mehra-Pedersen has exhibited her work in galleries and venues across Idaho, Montana, and North Dakota, with Utah soon to join the list.

Mehra-Pedersen's exhibition at the FIS Ski World Cup Finals will showcase original work that captures the energy of a skier’s journey and the breathtaking mountains that frame these world-class competitions. The work isa available in original work, prints, posters, stickers, and postcards, making it accessible to all. Her textured compositions convey the power and movement of both the sport and the natural landscape.
