Ely shining in regional gymnastics scene

Full caption: Sandpoint High senior Ryan Ely, a gymnast at Sandpoint Artistic Gymnastics Academy (SAGA) recently took fourth place overall out of nine competitors with an all-around score of 34.750 in the XP Sr. B Session 6 division at Royal Fest held this past Friday, Feb. 28 through Sunday, March 2 at the Spokane Convention Center. At the meet, she placed fourth in vault (9.025), ninth in bars (7.900), tied for second in beam (8.700) and fifth in floor (9.125). More recently, she placed second out of 10 competitors in vault (9.100) in the XP Session 5 Older division of the 9th Annual Snowglobe Classic held this past Friday, March 7 through Sunday, March 9 at The Courts at Real Life in Post Falls. Ely, who is planning on attending the University of Idaho after graduation, has been working hard in her last year of competition to qualify for the Idaho Women’s Xcel Gymnastics Championships set to be held Friday, March 28 through Sunday, March 30 at Idaho Central Arena in Boise.
