Levora inducted into Meet of Champions Hall of Fame
Former Bulldog track & field standout turned Washington State University star Sam Levora, a 2014 graduate of Sandpoint High, was inducted into Post Falls' District 1 Meet of Champions Hall of Fame this past Thursday after the conclusion of the boys 1600-meter run.
Levora was a three-time 4A Inland Empire League district champion in cross country his sophomore, junior and senior seasons, and a three-time 4A state medalist, placing fifth his sophomore year and second both his junior and senior year, boasting a 5000-meter personal best of 15:48 while a Bulldog.
In track & field, between both the district and state championships, he garnered 13 total medals across the 1600-meter and the 3200-meter runs. He still currently holds the school record in both events with a time of 4:16.51 in the 1600 and 9:32.24 in the 3200.
He was also the 2012 North Idaho Cross Country Male Athlete of the Year and two-time All-Nike Northwest Region selection during his time at Sandpoint High.
While a Cougar, he posted numerous top finishes in the Pac-12 Conference across three full seasons of track & field and cross country. Throughout his collegiate career he ran to the following personal bests in track & field: 1500-meter run (3:51.26), mile (4:11.67), 3000-meter run (8:08.26), 5000-meter run (14:01.36) and 10000-meter run (29:22.90); and held the following personal bests in cross country: 6000-meter run (17:47.60), 8000-meter run (24:03.40), 5-mile run (24:19.70) and 10000-meter run (30:24.70).
