Sandpoint junior varsity baseball finishes season 18-1-1
SANDPOINT — After a 15-6 finish a year ago, the Sandpoint High junior varsity baseball team continues to dominate the ranks of North Idaho, finishing the 2025 campaign with an overall record of 18-1-1.
Second-year head coach Brent Eacret said it was a fun year filled with plenty of comeback wins. The Bulldogs scored 194 runs compared to allowing just 69, which accounted for a winning margin of 7.16 runs per game. Overall, the boys posted a nearly .400 team batting average and an over .500 on-base percentage at the plate. On the mound, they had an earned run average of less than 3.00.
"The hitting was consistent throughout the year, all through the order," coach Eacret said. "On the pitching front, the amount of strikes we threw consistently was really impressive."
Eacret said that although the 18-1-1 record was a big accomplishment in itself, the highlight of the year was being amongst a great group of kids and families.
"It's a fantastic group of kids, and what was really cool about this year is that every kid contributed and bought into our values and team atmosphere... it was special," coach Eacret said. "This is a group that's hungry to get better and compete, which sets them up really nicely as they level up to varsity."
The Bulldogs junior varsity squad posted a 5-1 record against 6A teams this season, which included a sweep of powerhouse Lake City. They were undefeated against area 5A teams.
"Any kid that suited up for us at any given moment was a factor," coach Eacret said. "This year was a situation where we needed all hands-on deck to compete, and every single one of them did. I'm proud of the growth that they showed this season — it was absolutely incredible."
Leading the way at the plate was freshman Daniel Holman, who recorded a team-high 22 hits, a team-high 22 RBI and a tied for team-high three triples. Sophomore Jack Schriber scored a team-high 26 runs and added 19 hits of his own.
Sophomore Bode Eacret led the way on the rubber, throwing a team-high 24.2 innings while giving up just one earned run (0.37 ERA). He also posted a team-high seven doubles in the batter's box. Freshman Alec Lieuallen fanned a team-high 31 batters over 19.2 innings while freshman Benson Brown struck out 27 over just 14.2 innings of work to cap off what was another incredible season for Sandpoint's junior varsity squad.
