SANDPOINT — Zander Moore and Chris Koch scored first half goals, leading Sandpoint past Post Falls 2-0 in nonleague boys soccer Wednesday at War Memorial Field.

The Bulldogs (6-5) broke a scoreless game with a pretty goal in the 28th minute, when Chris Koch headed a ball forward from midfield, a well-time ball that found a streaking Zander Moore behind the defense. Moore took a touch, then blasted a shot past the keeper for a 1-0 lead.

Shortly after, Koch took a shot that ricocheted off the crossbar, finding Logan Buckout, who netted his first goal of the season for a 2-0 lead.

“This is our most well put together game of the season, and it bodes well for Moscow,” said Bulldog head coach Evan McNeley, looking ahead to a Saturday clash with Moscow. “I’m proud of how the boys have grown this season, from freshmen to seniors.”

Garrett Chandler stopped three shots to earn his first shutout in goal, as the Bulldog defense shut down the Trojans (4-10) for most of the game.

Cole and Dylan Baillie, Julian Reichold, Tyler Moore, Curtis Hauck and Buckout were honored on Senior Night. McNeley lauded the group for the way they go about their business.

Sandpoint hosts Moscow on Saturday at noon at Pine St Field. The Bears (7-6, 2-1 4A IEL) can claim the league title with a win by two goals or more; the Bulldogs (3-0 4A IEL) can snatch the crown with a win of any variety.
